Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera
Frida Kahlo, born in 1907, was a Mexican Artist who began to paint in 1925 after a disabling streetcar accident.
She underwent approximately thirty operations as an aftermath of the accident.
She married artist Diego Rivera in 1929 and divorced him in 1939, only to remarry him in 1940.
Originally recognized mostly due to her tumultuous relationship with Diego Rivera she eventually built her own reputation as an artist.
Besides encouragement and support in the arts, Diego Rivera taught Frida the fundamentals of communism, which she wholeheartedly embraced.
